NEW BOOK, NEW LOOK

Posted by on Feb 15, 2013 in Blog | 1 comment

Yes, you’re in the right place if you wanted to visit Mertianna’s website.  I just remodeled the site to celebrate my new novel, ANGEL OF SYN.  If you visited earlier, it might have said ANGLE OF SYN right over the book trailer. I never noticed it.  Every time I tried to look for things to edit my eyes locked on the hunky guy in the book trailer and all thoughts of spelling just faded away. Fortunately, one of my sharp-eyed readers emailed me to say although ANGLE OF SYN gave her delightfully dirty thoughts; she knew it wasn’t the...

Angel of Syn news

Posted by on Sep 15, 2012 in Blog | 3 comments

Dear Readers, My manuscript for ANGEL OF SYN is in the hands of my editor and undergoing red-pencil scrutiny.  This is good news!  It means the latest Cara Augustine adventure is about to be published. I’m currently working on a short story that’s all about Sonya and the Hellhounds.  The poor girl can’t get a guy to stick around once she introduces him to her “babies” the huge black supernatural Hounds.  If the burning red flames in their eyes don’t spook them, the big sharp teeth grinning at them seems...

Salute to Ray Bradbury

Posted by on Jun 10, 2012 in Blog | 0 comments

He was one of the authors that helped me to discover worlds of fantasy and a life-long desire to create worlds of my own through writing.  I remember my mother would tell me to go outside and play.  Because, as usual, my nose had been stuck in a book for hours.  I’d nod and say “okay” and stay to read for another hour because I simply couldn’t put down the book.  It was usually Bradbury or Asimov or Le Guin among so many others. “You must write every single day of your life… You must lurk in libraries...

Where did the Months go?

Posted by on Feb 20, 2012 in Blog | 1 comment

My last blog post was way back in November and I’m feeling suitably chagrined for not keeping up-to-date.  The good news is that my second novel, ANGEL OF SYN, should be out in the Fall of this year.  I’m currently thinking hard about the last book in the trilogy, DARK SYNS, which will likely be out next year.  (Oooo, 2013…a shiver just danced all the way down my spine.) Cara, Roman, Azrael, and Tom are in for big trouble, steamy nights, and howling good fun.  Let’s not forget about Cara’s cousins the hot...

N is for November and NaNoWriMo

Posted by on Oct 19, 2011 in Blog | 0 comments

Well it’s that time of year again for NaNoWriMo. What is it? National Novel Writing Month.  This hair-pulling-desperate-coffee-guzzling event starts on November first and ends on November thirtieth. On the last day unwashed hoards of writers will fall exhausted onto their keyboards, tears of relief in their eyes.  The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in one month. I’ve participated in this write-fest for the last four years.  I haven’t quite made the goal.  But this year is different!  (I say fiercely, startling...

So Little Time for Life’s little Indulgences

Posted by on Oct 2, 2011 in Blog | 0 comments

I read an article recently about a consumer spending trend.  In past economic downturns the sale of lipstick historically goes up (I’m going to assume women are the main consumers, but if this is a false assumption, hey, who am I to judge?). This year nail polish had taken over as the cash-strapped person’s little indulgence of choice sexual activity? Word of the Day – Bildungsroman

Posted by on Sep 25, 2011 in Blog | 1 comment

Today I nearly overturned my coffee cup in my excitment as I read an e-mail with the Word-Of-The-Day.  I subscribe to a service that sends these gems to me so I may practice pronouncing obsure words in the privacy of my own home.  This is the word I had to share: Bildungsroman (BIL-doonks-roh-mahn) Meaning: A novel about the moral and psychological growth of the main character Example: While the author’s previous novel was a bildungsroman, her most recent book focuses on the trials and tribulations of breaking the law and eluding...

Can’t Talk. Editing.

There once was a lady from Nantucket…oops wrong limerick.  That’s the problem with editing, it sends my mind wandering off task.  Re-reading some of the steamy passages of my new novel made my mind wander to, uh, um, Nantucket.  Must be a great place disorders may be categorized as neurogenic, vasculogenic,Myelodysplasia (spinal bifida) cialis online. of the cardiovascular system.
