N is for November and NaNoWriMo

Well it’s that time of year again for NaNoWriMo. What is it? National Novel Writing Month.  This hair-pulling-desperate-coffee-guzzling event starts on November first and ends on November thirtieth. On the last day unwashed hoards of writers will fall exhausted onto their keyboards, tears of relief in their eyes.  The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in one month.

I’ve participated in this write-fest for the last four years.  I haven’t quite made the goal.  But this year is different!  (I say fiercely, startling the little dog on my lap.) I have a Plan. As a “pantser” the word PLAN is another dirty four-letter word.  But I have come to embrace the usefulness of its dastardly organizedosity (I know its not a real word but I used it anyway). This year I’ve decided to have a rough roadmap of a Plan to write to.  In real life I’m one of the directionally challenged.  This may have something to do with  my pantser writing style

This year I “plan” to win the challenge!  Are you with me?  Let’s go do it!
