Fortunately, one of my sharp-eyed readers emailed me to say although ANGLE OF SYN gave her delightfully dirty thoughts; she knew it wasn’t the name of my book.  After a panicky call out to my web designer involving lots of CAPITAL LETTERS and exclamation points!!!  I figured out how to fix the problem myself.   I apologized for the bit of drama and went on my merry way, leaving my poor besieged web person to shake her head and sigh.

You’ll see some changes here at the revitalized site.  My blog entries have been few and far between but I vow to write more often.  There, I’ve said it (or actually wrote it) so I have to do it.  Right?  This will not be like the time I announced that I planned to do a Julie and Julia type thing (a woman named Julie blogged about making every single recipe in a Julia Child cookbook) except with THE BIG BOOK OF MARTINIS.  After the sixth recipe I realized that I should have done one per day, not one per hour.  And another project fell over with a happy grin on its face.  But I jest…or digress (your choice)

If you are reading this, thank you!  If you are not reading this, there’s really nothing more I can say on the matter. I plan to do fun things like contests and give-a-ways in the near future.  I may even go on a blog tour.  (I wonder if I should pack THE BIG BOOK OF MARTINIS in my tour luggage?)

ANGEL OF SYN

My last blog post was way back in November and I’m feeling suitably chagrined for not keeping up-to-date.  The good news is that my second novel, ANGEL OF SYN, should be out in the Fall of this year.  I’m currently thinking hard about the last book in the trilogy, DARK SYNS, which will likely be out next year.  (Oooo, 2013…a shiver just danced all the way down my spine.)

Cara, Roman, Azrael, and Tom are in for big trouble, steamy nights, and howling good fun.  Let’s not forget about Cara’s cousins the hot red-haired Evika and sweet Sonya with her two lovable hellhounds.  And what up with those orbs?  They keep popping in and out of Cara’s life, sometimes helping her, but other times messing everything up by intruding at the worst possible moments

ANGEL OF SYN goes international and inter-dimensional as Cara becomes a fugitive, chased by the Portalkind police.  She and her group stumble into a strange Garden of Eden in another Dimension.  And, because she’s quickly learning a Synemancer’s life is never simple, this time around she fends off an amorous nephilim (half-angel half-witch), and a dangerously deranged French werewolf.  Each hottie has his own reasons for wanting to possess her, body and soul.

Editing

There once was a lady from Nantucket…oops wrong limerick.  That’s the problem with editing, it sends my mind wandering off task.  Re-reading some of the steamy passages of my new novel made my mind wander to, uh, um, Nantucket.  Must be a great place

I’m going through ANGEL OF SYN to make sure I vary my sentence lengths.  A member of one of my writing groups pointed out that I tend to write sentences in a certain way.  I looked, and by golly, she was right.  We writers have our own styles of writing, it goes along with our writer’s Voice.  But when it’s too much of the same thing, that style can either get boringly monotonous or throw the reader out of the story because, yes, they too have noticed your odd writerly quirk of putting three commas in every sentence.  Variety is the spice of life and of a story.  Vary the length of sentences and make the length part of the story (for instance short sentences for action, longer sentences for slower passages).  Okay, got to go now.  Editing.
